How Long Does a Bespoke Dress Take? A Realistic Timeline

Three weeks. That's the standard turnaround for a bespoke Mizright dress, from your first consultation to the piece arriving at your door. It's a fair question to ask before you commit to anything, especially if you're planning around a specific date — so here's what actually happens in that time, step by step.

Week one: the consultation, and the decisions that shape everything after it

Everything starts with a free 15-minute call, held over video — no need to be in Osogbo, or even in Nigeria. This is where we talk through the occasion, the fit you're after, and the feeling you want the dress to give you. If you've already looked at our collections, bring a piece you liked; if not, this call is where that starts to take shape.

Once the design is settled, we move into fabric. You'll see swatches and previews digitally, so you know exactly what you're getting before anything is cut.

Weeks two and three: tailoring, and a fitting that doesn't require you to be in the room

This is the part most people are unsure about with a remote process: how does a dress get fitted to you if no one has measured you in person? Fittings happen by video, with guided measuring talking you through it, or in person if you're local. If anything needs adjusting once the dress comes together, that's handled at no extra cost — the goal is a dress that fits, not a dress that was merely finished on schedule.

Delivery

Once everything's confirmed, delivery is coordinated to wherever you are — locally through riders or interstate transport, or internationally through couriers like DHL or GIG, depending on what suits you best.

What can push the three weeks out

A few things reasonably extend the timeline: a heavily embellished design with a lot of hand-set detail, a very busy season, or a longer international shipping route. None of these are hidden costs or surprises — if your date is tight, say so on the consultation call, and we'll tell you honestly whether it's workable rather than letting you find out later.

The short version

If you have an event on a fixed date, work backwards: book your consultation at least three weeks out, longer if the piece is detailed or shipping internationally. Book a consultation and we'll tell you exactly where your date lands.
